It’s not just when manufacturing steel doors, that the Strongdor team strive for excellence!
Strongdor’s workshop operative - Rob Sleightholm prepared his running shoes as he strove to achieve a huge target to raise money for Cancer Care, a local charity based in Lancashire.
During the pandemic, Rob decided to make the most of the extra time by giving something back, setting himself a challenge to run the full length of Britain, to raise money for Cancer Care.
Rob began his journey on 9th January 2021 and completed the 875-mile trip on 29th January 2022, achieved by running on his own almost every day for a total of 30 – 40 minutes at a time. Keeping the motivation every day even when the weather wasn’t on his side, came with its challenges but Rob was determined to keep on going to achieve his goal.
“By the end, I felt relieved to be finished! I ran every day on my own, but to get me through the last one my dad joined me, and it was really nice to have him with me when I accomplished my goal. I raised a total of £3,000 for my local Cancer Care research charity, it truly felt like one of my best achievements! I would like to set myself another challenge at some point, but what and when that will be I’m not sure, I will keep you posted!” (Rob Sleightholm)
A huge congratulations from all the team at Strongdor for completing an amazing achievement Rob!
