Strongdor Launches a New Attack Standard – LPS 1673, Protecting More than Assets
In 2024, a new standard was introduced by BRE, intended to protect individuals and high-value assets from targeted attacks and violent smash-and-grab robberies. This standard was created in response to stakeholder demand for reliable protection measures against violent forced entry into the homes and properties of high-net-worth individuals. Its introduction also offers reassurance for those installing products within crowded places that may be targeted during an attack or within high net-worth spaces e.g. galleries and museums.
What is LPS 1673?
LPS 1673 is a new security standard intended to benchmark a product’s ability to deter, defend, and delay an offender from getting to their intended victim's property. By providing this delay, products certified to LPS 1673 provide the intended individuals an opportunity to get to a place of safety and call for help. These attacks are not intended to be subtle and perpetrators are determined to complete their mission, whether it involves robbery or targeting an individual. Unlike LPS 1175, LPS 1673 is an attack-rated certification, not security-rated.
Where Would You Need an LPS 1673 Security Door?
Typical applications for this range include locations at risk of targeted attacks against high-profile individuals such as politicians or celebrities. It can also be suited for homes, offices, and safe rooms in domestic properties. For retail, historical sites, and leisure facilities, such as museums, the standard provides peace of mind from the threat of violent smash-and-grab attempts.
When is it available to purchase?
Strongdor was the first steel door manufacturer to launch a door set to this standard. Working with BRE and other stakeholders, we launched our LPS 1673 Attackdor initially in 2024 and are continuing to offer more variations in hardware over time. Offering a live attack test demonstration in 2024, we showcased its capabilities, aesthetic offering and strength. The LPS1673 door is currently available with an attack rating of AR.A300, with more options coming.
